Angry Vegan

Angry vegan, the stereotype I find unavoidable. It makes me angry when I'm told to not be angry when I should   rightfully be angry. It makes me angry when I state my opinion like any other individual and yet somehow I'm being 'preachy'. It makes me angry when someone makes a joke about waving meat around my face. It makes me angry that I've encountered people who believe I did not 'critically think' about becoming/being vegan. Seriously? I'm just a fucking lottery vegan? A 'this sounds like fun' vegan? It makes me angry that everyone seems to think I'm completely ignorant on the issues of animal rights when I literally have a library on animal rights/vegan issues. It angers me that people are more focused on my diet than their own nasty, artery-clogging diet. It makes me angry that people think that it's okay to just 'pick the meat off' or 'eat around it'. YOU DON'T GET IT! It makes me angry when people tell me I'm going to get sick. It makes me mad that people link any headache, body ache and stomach pain to me being  vegan. It makes me angry that people uninvite me to events because 'you won't want to be here, there is nothing for you to eat'. It makes me angry that gelatin is in every fucking sour gummi worm. It makes me angry when I'm labeled difficult at restaurants and households. It makes me angry when people JUST DON'T CARE! When the vegetable soup is made with beef broth. When dining at your university ignores you for MONTHS! When everyday fucking reminds you of the billions of animals being killed daily! I'm not supposed to be angry? When you feel closer to the birds and deer than you do to your own species....when the cows and pigs are your family...and then you just kill them....just sending them to the slaughter house for a moment of selfish pleasure. The majority of the world is against my beliefs leaving me feeling more alone than ever. It IS frustrating. It IS angering. I AM FUCKING ANGRY!

Hearty Veggie Soup

This is my favorite soup recipe. My mom who is an omni loves this and makes me make it for her :3 Its really simple and can be done in about 20 minutes :)

So you will need!
  • 2 bags of frozen mixed veggies
  • 2 cans of dark kidney beans
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup of macaroni noodles
  • veggie base
  • garlic
So this recipe is kinda not too specific for the fact that I dont measure anything. I make this soup differently everytime. You can mix and match the ratios according to your preference :)

So basically you put all your veggies in a pot and fill it with water and cook it on medium to high heat for about 10-15 minutes. Add the garlic and veggie base til the soup tastes good to you :) while you wait on that to cook, boil your water for your pasta and then cook it til its just about done but not quite. Drain the pasta. Then add it to your soup and let cook for another 5 minutes or so :3

ENJOY!

Why You Shouldn't Consume Dairy Products

So first off let me say, I've been slacking on my posts because I've been enjoying my summer with friends before I leave for college.

So what exactly are dairy products?
Dairy products are defined as "milk and butter and cheese". Lolz I think this is kinda a shitty definition. What's up with the double and thing? XD Lolz anyway..

So what's the issue? (lol I use 'so' a lot :3)

  • Drinking milk is simply...stealing. So say your mom gets pregnant. YAY! IT'S A BOUNCING BABY BOY! (kill it...jk) So mommy is preggo. (Dumb slut) 9 months later the annoying fuck comes out. Mommy starts lactating to feed her alien. BUT WAIT! THAT MILKS NOT FOR THE BABY! ITS FOR AMERICA! They take the baby away. If it's a male, it's destiny is to be tied to a crate for months until 'ready' (this is when they kill your baby) . If it is a female, it will basically be a sex slave until it can no longer put out. It is so taboo for people to drink other human's milk. But it's completely normal for us to drink another species milk?

  • Random fact: Cows do NOT need to be "milked".
  • Another random fact: We are the only species on the planet that drinks milk as adults. Now that is fucking unnatural as fuck. If you drink milk...don't bitch about gay people.

  • From the book Skinny Bitch, "Researchers at Harvard, Yale, Penn State, and the National Institutes of Health have studied the effects of dairy  intake on our bones. Not one of these studies found dairy to be a deterrent to osteoporosis. On the contrary, a study funded by the National Dairy Council itself revealed that high protein content of dairy actually leaches calcium from the body. After looking at thirty-four published studies in sixteen different countries, researchers at Yale University found that the countries with the highest rates of osteoporosis--including the United States, Sweden, and finland--were those in which people consumed the most meat, milk, and other animal foods." C:

  • Dairy has been linked to acne, anemia, anxiety, arthritis, ADD, ADHD, fibromyalgia, headaches, heartburn, indegestion, irritable bowl syndrom, joint pain, osteoporosis, poor immune function, allergies, ear infections, colic, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, autism, Chron's disease, breast and prostate cancers, and ovarian cancer. And our fuckin government recommends this shit to us?!

  • So what about our doctors? Wouldn't they know? DOCTORS RECEIVE LESS THAN THREE HOURS OF NUTRITIONAL TRAINING IN MEDICAL SCHOOL! SO NO! THEY DON'T FUCKING KNOW!

  • Dairy products are filled with antibiotics, pesticides, steroids, and hormones. If you gave these directly to your child it would be considered child abuse. But apparently if you mix it in with something it's completely different -__-

  • Myth: Cows are milked by a cute little old farm man. Fact: THAT IS BULLSHIT! 95 percent of farms are factory farms. Cows are milked by machines. Metal clamps attached to their udders.Their udders become sore and infected and then the pus forms.

  • That's right C: There is pus in your milk.
  • You don't need milk to get calcium. Many grains and vegetables contain calcium :)
So basically dairy is disgusting and pointless. There are plenty of HEALTHY vegan options you shoud try :)

The Social Urks of Being Vegan

So being vegan is amazing, but we all know that at times it can be quite frustrating. Between the ignorant remarks and poor arguments against veganism, it'll make yout want to break out your pleather whips ;) bahaha. So here are a few things that I have personally dealt with (and I'm sure you have too :o)

1) You go out to eat and explain that you are vegan. You break it down. No animal products. No meat, dairy, egg, etc. You alter a meal by ordering it without animal products, like a pasta dish of some sort. You'll order it without cheese. They bring your food out....guess what's on it! Cha-Cha-Cha-CHEESE. Im politely like dub-tee-eff >:( what is this junk? And then you have to wait while they make your food AGAIN. Frustrates me.

2) "OH! LETS HAVE A _________(fill in with a food item you clearly can not eat) PARTY!" -___- lets not....want to know why? Because I can't fucking eat it. That is why.

3) Herp derp im going to make my vegan child some non-vegan food...ON PURPOSE! AND THEN TRY TO LIE ABOUT IT! WHAT! WHAT! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Oh? You're allergic to peanuts? LET ME JUST MAKE YOU A HEARTY PB&J! Yeah bitch, isn't too nice is it?

4) "So why don't you drink milk? They don't kill the cow." -__- go read and then we'll pretend like you didn't just say that.

5) "I could never be vegan. I love chicken too much." Ummm...noo. See you are perfectly capable...you just aren't willing. Please acknowledge the difference.

6) "You can't get protein from plants." Omg. It's sad that people are convinced that only animal protein is legit. Once again, just go read. With any topic, just make sure you know what you're talking about before you go debating up a storm.

7) People are convinced that vegans only eat tofu, drink soy milk, and chomp down on lettuce. There are millions of vegan recipes to make delicious food. You dont have to eat one item. "Oh what will I have for dinner? Oooo I know...a bowl of celery!" It does not work that way. FRUSTRATING!

These are just a few of the frustrating things. Lol clearly, I get a bit flustered. But this is where all my fellow vegans come in. We have to help educate the world. Open their eyes. No, we can't cram our beliefs (or veggies) down their throats, but we must try our hardest to represent well. After all, there are only so many of us.

Here It Is!

So for a week or two I had been thinking about starting a vegan blog. So here it is! I'll post maybe once or twice a week about vegan related topics and issues.

So let me start out by giving you some background info on myself. My freshmen year of high school, I was introduced to PETA (which is despised by many). PETA led me to Peta2, a teen/young adult animal rights nonprofit organization. Peta2 led me to being a Street teamer. I raise awareness on animal rights issues and in return I get things that further promote animal rights. It's an amazing cycle of activism :) From there, I went vegetarian (about 2 years). Then on a random whim I took the vegan 30 day challenge...only it didn't last 30 days. The 30 days turned into a lifestyle that I can never turn my back on.

Since going vegan, I lost 50 pounds...ah-fuckin-mazing! I went from a miserable fat kid to a confident, bold bitch. The good kind though ;) I love to read animal rights/ethical eating related books. I am working on my collection. I love to read and write. I love nature. I am an atheist with respect for earth's beauty. I am also straight edge, meaning I have respect for my body ;) and you should too. I am a firm believer of "You have to give respect to get respect."

I am in love with my lifestyle so much that I am going to Ballstate University this fall to study dietetics to further promote vegan diets. I absolutely LOVE food and I take pride in the fact that I can stuff my face full and still lose weight and be healthy. So that's a little about me and hopefully I gather some followers.
